Kathleen Boyle Wrigley, Author
Creates Stories that Teach Children About Character
Children do not have to wear a badge or do something enormous to make a difference.
They can notice someone who feels left out. Speak kindly. Offer help. Tell the truth. Choose courage. Invite someone in.
Officer Danny and the Kindness Patrol helps young readers discover that kindness is powerful and that every child can become the kind of person who helps others feel safe, seen, and valued.
The Author's Story Behind Officer Danny
Inspired by a Brother... a Hero... and a Life of Service
Officer Danny and the Kindness Patrol was created in loving memory of Kathleen's only brother, Philadelphia Police Officer Danny Boyle, who was killed in the line of duty at 21 years old.
Danny is remembered for his courage, kindness, humor, and tender heart. Kathleen wanted children to know the person behind the badge and to understand that heroism is often found in the way we treat the people around us.
Through the character of Officer Danny, his spirit continues alongside his nieces, nephew, and their lovable puppy, Honey. His legacy becomes an invitation for children to choose courage, notice others, and make kindness part of everyday life.

Teaching Children That They Were Born To Rise
The Built to Rise message begins early. Children build resilience when they know they matter, when safe adults listen, and when they discover that courage can be practiced through everyday choices. Officer Danny and the Kindness Patrol gives families and educators a hopeful way to begin those conversations.
